Tarsnap is a secure, efficient online backup service: Encryption: your data can only be accessed with your personal keys. We can't access your data even if we wanted to! Source code: the client code is available. You don't need to trust us; you can check the encryption yourself! Dave says: 2016/12/06 at 21:43 Reply Unfortunatelly we are more and more forced into paid subscriptions. Some months ago, there was a myriad of free storage services like Copy, Surdoc, MEOCloud, LG Storage, and so on… Then, one by one, these services started to stop its activities (MEOCloud didn’t stop, but limited the use for Portuguese users). I Still use Mega, Dropbox, pCloud, Yandex, Degoo (to backup a folder of my PC), Hubic, BOX, MediaFire, Amazon Cloud Drive and Asus Webstorage for free. But as I can’t neither complain nor get surprised if the above mentioned companies shut down their free storage services, I had to sign up for a 100 GB Google Drive account for USD 1.99/mo and I got a 1-year-free 1 TB account at MS Onedrive because I bought an Office 360 subscription. P.S.: I felt particularly upset about LG Cloud Drive because it was the one cloud software available in my smart tv. But, life goes on. Now, I must focus on my Google Drive and OneDrive. I still use the other existing services, but only in rare cases.

Create a pCloud account and instantly get 10 GB free online storage space. From: https://www.cloudwards.net/the-top-5-cloud-companies-with-large-free-service-plans/ One of my favorite features about pCloud is that you don’t have to move local files into the pCloud folder, to back them up online. You can backup any folder by right-clicking it and selecting Sync to pCloud. Another handy option, and a cloud storage “must have” in my opinion, is the ability to enable automatic synchronization on a mobile app for media.

Most of these services can back up your data to local hard drives as well as to the cloud. But CrashPlan is the only one that offers peer-to-peer backups too: I set aside some space on my backup disk for your files, you do the same for me, and our Macs back up data to each other over the Internet, but without relying on third-party cloud storage. (Your data is kept encrypted the whole time so I can’t see your files, even when your backups are on my disk.)

There is no need to pick folders and files. Backblaze is the only cloud backup solution that backs up all your photos, movies, music and documents automatically. Of course you can also pick what not to backup in Backblaze Settings. Any deleted files will be retained for 30 days. Learn more. Backblaze does not want to waste your bandwidth or Backblaze datacenter disk space. Thus, we do not backup your operating system, application folder, or temporary internet files that are transient and would not be useful in the future. Backblaze also excludes podcasts in iTunes.
