Steps for Archiving Any Data

**Overview**

**Copy Data**

  • Setup Backup selections
  • Setup Backup job
  • Run Backup
  • Put Tape in Archive Media
  • To copy the data to the hard drive use a Restore Job to restore the tape to the Archive Hard Drive. See “Restore Job to Archive Hard Drive”.

**Restore Job to Archive Hard Drive**

  • Log on to Server3
  • Remote Login using “192.168.1.3”
  • Login with username and password
  • Start Veritas Backup Exec.
  • Click on Job Setup Tab
  • Right click in job setup list
  • Click new job selection list
  • Select Data
  • Name job in selection list name and give name as description: “z Arch Lightning-2”
  • Go to Remote Selections
  • Click Microsoft Windows NetworkClick ETS
  • Click Server1
  • Click F: drive
  • Click scandata
  • Select data that needs to be archived
  • Click OK
  • Then to Job menu, scroll to bottom of list
  • Right click and select “new job”
  • Select new job and add job to the list of backups
  • On screen pop-up in selections pick job that needs backing up.
  • Scroll through other menus to verify correct data
  • Next, click run now to start backup
  • Click job monitor tab for verification on job
  • Double click on job to see job report and assure all specifications are correct.

**Setup Backup selections**

  • Log on to Server3
  • Remote Login using “192.168.1.3”
  • Login with username and password
  • Start Veritas Backup Exec.
  • Click on Job Setup Tab
  • Right click in job setup list
  • Click new job selection list
  • Name job in selection list name and give name as description
  • Select Data
    • Best to archive from local disk like G: (Semi-removeable drive)
    • Select data that needs to be archived
  • Click OK

Archive Data Listing

  • Open Directory Printer.
  • Select the file location where the data is located.
  • Next, select the file information needed to be saved in the file.
    • (Choose : Long Name, Size, Date/Time, and Attributes).
  • Sort by Long Name in Ascending Order.
  • Under Options check Include Subdirectories and leave the box labeled Levels marked as all.
  • Now, select the files in the directory that was selected in the second step.
  • Then, click the Export button down in the right hand corner.
  • The Save As box pops-up, give the file the proper name (Probably the name of the Disk , include date of backup tape and tape number)
  • Save this file in Etspg-server1\scandata\ArchiveData Listing.
  • Save as a Text file (.txt) in
    • its own directory.
    • list tape number in name
