Is neither an acceptable option?  I would certainly use... neither.  WSS has certain use 
cases for very specific things that I would consider if needed.  If not absolutely needed, 
it would not be on my radar, Windows is terrible at storage.  FreeNAS is, of course, never 
a viable option.  Use OpenSuse, FreeBSD or similar.
